AcquaMD Clear Ear
Pillar partnered with Ilich Vahimi to design and engineer the acQuaMD, the first device purpose-built to safely remove trapped water from the ear canal. The project involved deep research and competitive analysis up front, mapping the shortcomings of existing products before committing to a design direction. From there, the focus was on building something that was genuinely safe, cleanable, and simple enough for a wide range of users, from young children to adults.
The core engineering challenge was developing interchangeable silicone tips, similar in concept to a doctor’s otoscope, that vibrate at both low and high frequencies to dislodge water without irritating or damaging the ear. All exposed surfaces were designed for easy cleaning to prevent bacterial buildup, with enclosed electronics and no crevices where dirt or germs could collect. The final product is comfortable, clinically tested for ages 2 through 65+, and meets FDA safety requirements.
