The Pillar Design team in Seattle WA. team up with Rhino Gear to develop the world class new Rhino Rig. This system is absolutely amazing, we had a chance to rapid prototype and CNC machined a sample to check the ergonomics, balance, functionality and weight. This project was about 4 months in development, but as you can see we have something to all be very proud of. This versatile rig system will allow professional photographers to fully dial in their rig for their specific shot or film with smooth balance and high accuracy. This complex 3D assembly is a combination of tool-less adjustment and ergonomic

The Pillar Product Design team just finished designing a complete set of lens covers for both Nikon and Canon for Black Rapid latest release the Lensbling brand. This set of caps and covers handles all the major sizes and models of camera lens for both Nikon and Canon. 3D modeling in Solid Works 2013 and scaling these caps accordingly was a challenge since Black rapid wanted this to be (3) color tri injection molded shot. The Pillar Design team work with Black Rapid’s in-house tooling manufacturer team to make sure we ended up with the right quality of part that would meet the desired material cost of

I took a month off and went to Peru with My family for the month of Jan. We checked out some amazing Inca and pre-Inca ruins. One thing we came across that was amazing from an engineering stand point was an aqueduct system that was cut from solid stone using a harder stone. These aqueducts were nearly 8km in length and they used ingenious designs like throwing a 90 degree angle in the path to lower the water level and slow the flow. They used system like narrowing or splitting the aqueduct to raise the water to transfer the
